Effects of Student Collaboration on ESL Learners’ Vocabulary Development

Abstract: This paper describes a research which attempted to evaluate the effectiveness of student collaboration as technique in improving vocabulary development among group ESL learners. The main motivation behind this study was due concern that has become neglected area teaching English language. aims were whether helped improve students’ and extent improvement. Two types data collected during – qualitative quantitative. from teacher’s observation, journals interview; while, quantitative pre-test post-test. results t-test indicated students did make an improvement their knowledge after they had studied together collaboratively. Besides that, found be effective because interaction made discussion them other language skills such reading, listening speaking, gave opportunities participate own learning, built self-confidence interacting with members cultivated sharing attitude them.
